In about 1983 Tarmac discovered a deposit of approximately 3 million tonnes of sand and gravel on our Park Farm holding giving us the exciting opportunity to create a lakeland re-instatement with associated after use. Tarmac's excellent design team and our insistance on a lakeland re-instatement eventually paid off as a planning consent fitting our requirement was granted and by doing so Park Farm Quarry became one of the first of a new generation of quarry generating planning interest from all over the country. By 2014 we will have created approximately 200 acres of recreation area with an almost unlimited potential.
